Review on StopTech 309 09230 Street Performance Front by Reza Shoecraft

Great for the impatient rider, bad for the casual rider

I purchased the StopTech slotted rotors and these StopTech pads together about three weeks ago and had them professionally installed. Both the rotors and the pads are very high quality but I will be replacing these pads and paying the cost as it was a mixed bag and it didn't work for me. After riding them for two or three days, I followed StopTech's powder instructions and performed 10 quick decelerations at 60-10 mph to burn off the resin and transfer some pad material to the rotors. The next day I installed another 10 brakes back to back. There are a lot of hills that I ride up and down between my commute and errands etc. I don't really push my car per se, but I like responsive stuff and I get a little energized at times. I bought this combination of slotted rotors and pads because I thought they would grip better and fade less in wet weather and when getting on and off, and the slots repel water and dirt. As it turns out, these pads are very good when you brake. ride stiffer or more powerfully and you want a last that digs in linearly and doesn't disappear. But for riding like me, where I'm only using the weight of my foot and the first part of brake pedal travel, I need a grippier and thicker feel that feels lighter and more responsive. So I'm switching to a more versatile OEM style last that hopefully compromises more initial bite for a potential temperature drop that I never got to. Otherwise the dust is decent (although my discs have it) and the pads are quiet.
