This strainer features a high-quality, dense spiral that perfectly retains small pieces of ice, tangled fruit, etc. from the finished drink. Also, I wash mine in the dishwasher and have had no issues with rusting or other quality issues. The only potential downside is that the filter itself is slightly smaller in diameter than some similar competing products. For example, it fits perfectly in a Boston pint glass/shaker, but has some play in the larger side of the shaker jar. Some other brands are more solid in the can and fit right into the pint of the glass. In practice this doesn't matter as I always hold the strainer by the vessel I'm pouring from and the pins are wide enough to hold the strainer securely on top. All in all, when I need another hawthorn screen, this is my first stop.
