Review on Hunter Fan Company 59242 Dempsey by Jessica Sanders

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Almost silent but wobbly

Would give 3.5 stars if I could. There were two screw problems and the remote receiver was dead. I recently bought a 42" low profile Dempsey for my office and really admired it for its very low sound. So I bought this fan for my bedroom as my current ceiling fan was pretty noisy. As with the 42", one of the hood screws was tight, but that's only a few seconds. The big problem was that the two fan blade screws didn't fit at all. The fan blades should be fine with just two screws, but that was discouraging. The problem was that the remote control didn't work after reassembly. I checked the power supply to the bulb leads with a Fluke VoltAlert electrical tester, there is power. But nothing with the remote control. Please note this fan does not have pull chains, so need to You use the remote to change the fan speed to turn the light on and off, then I picked up the phone and turned on the fan directly - the light came on, the fan went to "high speed" I would leave it there, but I prefer to run the fan on 'low' So I ordered a separate Hunter 99122 remote/receiver, install she said and now it works as expected. So this fan cost me $45 more than the original price. I still like the look of the fan and its near-silent operation. But I wasn't thrilled that I had to buy a new remote control/receiver.
