I used this to connect my Nintendo Wii to a game monitor to play Project M (a Super Smash Bros. Brawl mod - check it out if you like the Series pleases, especially the competition site It's totally free, easy to install and run, and all you need is a copy of Brawl and a 2GB SD card) with less input lag than my LCD TV . As I played the game and learned some of the advanced techniques used in the competitive scene, I found that I had a lot of issues with characters that have a very reactive playstyle, like Shake and Lucario when playing on TV. . Overall the game was just unresponsive and I initially put this down to not being very good with the controls, but on a whim I checked the input lag on my TV and found that the lag was around 50ms ( Of course, for those who don't know, input lag is the delay between pressing a key and the resulting action appearing on the screen), which is terrible. I know that might not sound bad, but in a game where it's not uncommon to type more than 8 inputs per second, it makes a world of difference, especially for fast characters. However, my monitor is rated at around 10-12ms, which is a massive improvement. I bought this converter to connect my console to a monitor to see if it would affect my ability to perform certain in-game actions and it has made a huge improvement. It might not be something you can see, but it's definitely something you can feel. The game feels a lot smoother and more responsive, there's just nothing quite like it. Especially if you're trying to go back to what you had before. Setup was easy, all I had to do was connect the power cord, component cable from the Wii, and HDMI cable to the monitor and it was ready to go. under a minute. I haven't had any problems with it either, although I don't use it very heavily - only 1-3 hours a day for about 3 months. The only thing I have is: there are no rubber feet or anything on the bottom, no power button so the only way I can turn it off is by turning off the power (which I have to do every time or else it wakes up). every few minutes when not in use) and it seems cheap. The body is metal, which is nice but feels very light. As if it could break completely at the slightest fall. Overall, I'd recommend this if you're looking for a way to connect a component output device to a display with an HDMI input port. While you won't see the same difference as mine unless you have the same setup as mine, the difference is in the two screens, not the converter.
