She punctured her knee on her first trip. I wouldn't say it wasn't even a note drop that caused the hole he made. But they are very thin which is great for breathability but bad for being worn by a kid. (Obviously they will be rude with their clothes.) Will look for other places for kids hiking pants in the future. The zips appear to be of excellent quality, although so far we haven't had any problems zipping the shorts up or putting them back on to the pants.
