Review on πŸ”₯ Heat Up Your Space with the Sharper Image RISE 12H Tower Space Heater by Cody Hinckley

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Sleek, modern and easy to use compact heater but with a strong chemical smell and a bit noisy

This is indeed a 3.5 star rating. Having had a lot of experience with many other Sharper Image products in the past, I was hoping that this Sharper Image RISE 12H Tower Space Heater would work as well. I was hesitant to give it 3 or 4 stars but found a couple of issues that really detracted from its positives. One of the things I liked about this RISE 12H tower is its attractively slim and upright shape. The RISE 12H Tower is black and looks very modern. It is suitable for a modern office or a room with modern furniture. I also liked that it is very easy to use. A large knob at the top controls four settings: Off, Fan Only, Low Heat (450W), and High Heat (900W). The fan is also quite powerful. There is a safety mechanism on the bottom that will shut off the heater if knocked over or not standing on a stable, flat surface. In terms of heating, forced warm air can heat a small area, but probably not as well as large space heaters. However, it does its job in the immediate vicinity of a person, for example under a table. Despite these positive aspects, I found some of its flaws disappointing. The first and most annoying problem is the strong chemical smell that the heater gives off. I could tell this when I first opened the packaging material to take out the heater. It was so strong that I put the box and heater outside in the garage to get some air. After a few hours I brought the heater back and found it still smelled. When the heating is turned on the smell spreads throughout the room and makes things worse so I took it outside again. The second problem is noise. The heater blows vigorously and the noise is louder than I'm used to. The sound turns white after a while, but I notice how quiet the room gets when I turn off the heat. When I'm on a video call and the heating is on next to me, the caller can definitely hear the sound. Note that you shouldn't look at the heater when you first turn it on, as it will blow a cloud of dust in your face. Overall the heater works well, looks solid and looks sleek. I can deal with the noise level but I really hope the chemical smell goes away with time.
