Worked well for my current project

I have a similar sheet that I used for a patchwork applique that I like but it wasn't big enough for the project I was making. This has been sized to be the same size as my project, which would be fine, but there is a green border around this element that reduces the visual space. Not being a fan of the grid lines, I figured it would be a bit more difficult to see through than the teflon sheet I used previously. All the other large format sheets available appeared to be tan and I figured it would be hard to see through them so I bought this one. The project I made is a bit complicated (a horse's head with a flowing mane), So it was important to be able to see through the sheet for the correct placement of the quilt pieces. although I also used a sheet of vinyl with a pattern printed on it to help with placement. The rug is a bit tacky so it will stick to your pattern without having to pin them together and the tackiness also keeps the quilt pieces from shifting so that was nice. I've put all the pieces together but haven't actually ironed them yet, so can't test that yet, although it can be really nice to put an extra teflon sheet on top as a fusible tape or two ended up on top of the pieces so the protective sheeting prevents that getting the sticky residue from my project on my iron. So basically it worked well enough for my needs, even better, I wish it would be a little wider or have no rim, but that was nice as it's heavy and won't slip around your project. Wanted to update some photos. There is a photo of my old matte next to the new Precision matte. I don't think you can really see the grid line in the picture. For my use I didn't find the grid lines necessary and they bothered me, but other people might like them. As long as you're working in good light, you should be able to see through the mat fairly well. The other image is my project after I glued it together but before I took it off the mat. Walked away easily. This mat is good (now that I'm used to it), it stays in place and I'll probably continue to use it on my other projects.
