I was looking for a lightweight foldable monopod for day trips and this model was recommended to me by a friend from the local bird club. After opening the twist lock and extending the monopod pole, the first, larger segment was not removed while the rest were removed. It doesn't matter as it fits nicely on the side of my pack and works great as a hiking pole when not being used as a camera support. I am not deducting a star because the product exceeded my expectations. I hooked this up to a Giottos VH6011-658D video head that accepts an Arca-Swiss mounting plate. I use a pair to support a mirrorless camera with a 100-400mm lens. So far, so good.
