Now I have connected this to two different machines, one to the HP motherboard, the other to the Asus Hero v111 motherboard for monitor - problem is you need line d to use with graphics card - for line c or whatever your monitor graphics card is - HP doesn't support an adapter, you need a straight line to connect it to the graphics card to add - i am using an asus 570 8 gigabyte graphics card - the monitor works with the adapter but also not digital with the adapter - and connected to the card. It's a monitor, not a device - but it works - now if you buy an adapter with a plug-in speaker that works on the card - and I love it - so I'm not shooting stars for HP that screwed up
