Wow, what was I thinking? 40 lumens is nothing! If I hadn't already torn up the packaging I would have sent it back. This 40 lumen version is the new version. The old version only has 25 lumens. God I can only imagine how awful that was. Attached is a photo of a flashlight shining about 18 inches off the ground. The further you go, the darker it gets. I can't imagine relying on it in the event of a power outage. The body of the flashlight also looks like cheap plastic. I wonder if the low light output was intentional to keep the bulb from melting the cheap plastic. I am very disappointed in Energizer. Get something different.
