broken heel! Do not buy!

Black Capezio pictured is 11 years old and heavily used. The tan purchased here from Revain is 3 weeks old. I have other jazz and character Capezio shoes that are many years old. I don't know what happened to Capezio, but please don't risk buying her shoes again. The heel broke during the dress rehearsal when I was walking down the stairs. I fell and it hurt. Needless to say, I've successfully descended many rungs in my 11-year married couple and many other characters and non-characters throughout my life, so I don't think it was user error. Luckily I didn't hurt myself apart from a nice bruise or two, but the thing is, it could have been a lot worse. When I saw the price and bought the shoes, I assumed the inner and outer would be of lower quality (and it's true - note the leather tears, which have never happened on any of my previous character shoes). I only needed shoes for one show so I took them. Again, I've had a lot of success wearing Capezio shoes for many years, so I had no doubt these shoes would last me the 2 months I needed. Sounds melodramatic, but right now I feel a bit betrayed by the Capezio brand. I am shocked that Capezio sacrificed his craftsmanship to endanger the safety of the cast. Do not take any risks.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Low repairability
