Review on 🚗 Monroe OESpectrum 5667 Shock Absorber: Premium Performance for Passenger Cars by Robert Abdi

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Relatively cheap excitement

Replaced both rear racks with these types. The right rear brace lasted about a week before failing. The left rear is still strong. Terrible thread design. You get this DD actuator that clamps you down when you tighten the nylon bushing lock nut. You will need to put 3 3/8 inch flat washers under the nut that comes with the stand. It's much shorter than the stem, but won't thread into the top rack mount without special tools. You can't reuse the stem, but since the Monroe's thread pitch doesn't match the stem's nut. To add insult to injury, the Monroe's threaded end is not heat treated. Apply too much torque to the threaded end and the DD actuator will just buckle. If you have two of those Monroe struts installed that aren't faulty, the car will run great. They're relatively cheap if you get a faulty one. Good luck with Tenneco maintaining the "Lifetime Warranty". on their customer support hotline. If you find a number, you'll get an endless series of automatic prompts and elevator music. In short, a lifetime guarantee means nothing. The Monroe quick braces up front for the Fusion were nothing short of amazing. could do it again, I would probably use rear Mo Torcraft stays in the rear and fast Monroe stays in the front. If Ford offered front quick release struts I would use Motorcraft parts on all four corners. Oh, and one more piece of advice. When changing rear struts, don't skimp on the upper strut mounts. Chances are they messed up your old racks. If you reuse old brackets with new steering knuckles, the brackets will show how worn they are. There is a lot of knocking and knocking. Change the top supports of the racks at the same time as the rear racks!
