Missing parts for shock absorber

The first delivered without problems. The second was missing the top nut that was threaded onto the shock absorber rod. Had to drive to Ace Hardware nearby to get it. An hour's work extended to more problems than it should have been!

Pros
  • Dope ๐Ÿ”ฅ
Cons
  • Communication with the seller

OEM shocks are threaded, Monroe blocks are not.

Threaded OEM shock absorbers, not Monro units. The shocks come with nuts, but on my wife's 2013 Ford Fusion, the factory bolts weren't long enough, so I had to find longer bolts to make them work.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Good but not great

Not original quality, complete scrap!

Terrible it must be OE quality not even close. The shaft diameter does not correspond to the nominal diameter. The strut nut in my application is less than half the height of the stem, and due to the Ford design which has a recess in the bracket itself, unless you use multiple washers, do not tighten the nut make up the difference with a wrench, and an outlet is not an option. Apparently they didn't do their homework in Monroe. If I could give stars to this item I would give them oh and theyโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Nothing

Monroe used to be reliable, but these suck!

Purchased in April 2018 to replace stock shocks on a 2013 Fusion with 40,000 miles. At 41,000, they began causing problems that were only revealed after chasing a car rattle for almost three months. Replaced the strut mounts, disassembled almost every part of the suspension, rear parcel shelf, seats and trunk to find the rumble because I didn't think my Monroe shocks which we are only 5 months old make that horrible noise could. ? Yes. The dampers only work at the bottom 50% of compression andโ€ฆ

Relatively cheap excitement

Replaced both rear racks with these types. The right rear brace lasted about a week before failing. The left rear is still strong. Terrible thread design. You get this DD actuator that clamps you down when you tighten the nylon bushing lock nut. You will need to put 3 3/8 inch flat washers under the nut that comes with the stand. It's much shorter than the stem, but won't thread into the top rack mount without special tools. You can't reuse the stem, but since the Monroe's thread pitch doesn'tโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Unfashionable
