It was going to replace my studded Nordman 7, so I decided to get it. The Nordman was only unsuccessful for one season since I needed to travel to Poland for the holidays but I couldn't do it because I was driving on studded tires. When I first started thinking about it, I considered borrowing a car from a relative that had Velcro on it. Then I recalled that a few years ago I went with Velcro and didn't know grief. After that, I made the decision to switch to spikes for some reason. I made the decision to mix work and play by switching back to Velcro; I purchased a brand new BF Goodrich and then sold it to Nordman (I was able to sell it in just two hours because the rubber looked brand new and all of the spikes were in their proper places). Even though it hasn't been that long since I got my driver's license, I've already racked up over 4,000 kilometers behind the wheel. The impressions are entirely favorable, and I am relieved to be back at the Velcro, where there is peace and comfort, after having experienced the spikes. On the road to Poland, there was snow, rain, frost, ice, and dry asphalt; the rubber behaved normally in all of these conditions, and driving was not at all nerve-wracking. On ice, it will probably be worse than studded, but on ice, gouge driving will not be helped by studs, and you will need to turn your head on. Only Velcro will do through a winter like the one that St. Petersburg is experiencing this year.
