Review on 📀 Panasonic DMP-BDT100 Blu-Ray DVD Player, Black – 3D/2D Capability by Sam Lund

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Good for Blu-ray but nothing else

This is a fantastic DVD/Blu-ray player. WATCH TV. But I have an Onkyo digital receiver. All components are advertised as compatible with the HDMI-CEC protocol (referred to as "VEIRA Link" by Panasonic). By the way, my 50" Panasonic 3D Plasma TV is also a "VIERA Link" device. The idea behind the CEC protocol is that when I put a DVD/BD in the player, it controls both the TV and the receiver should turn on (correct input channel selection). Nothing happens. It doesn't ONCE turn on the Panasonic TV, which uses its own Panasonic protocol. Otherwise, the device is an excellent BD/DVD device, but a poor CD or audio Player. Cannot play an audio CD in repeat or shuffle mode, standard features on most other devices. You can play music AND shorten the life of your TV, but you cannot turn off your TV while the device is playing audio CDs OR MP3s from den USB- oder SD-Steckplätzen abspielt. Потому что, в то время как связь VIERA абсолютно не работает, когда вы НА других устройствах работает ИДЕАЛЬНО при ВЫКЛЮЧЕНИИ телевизора Panasonic, даже когда привод Pan asonic BD находится в режиме "аудио" м ode — при выключении телевизора проигрыватель также отключается, и предотв it is impossible. There's no way to start audio playback from a USB or SD source without a TV (as you have to select and activate titles via the TV's menu), so you won't be able to resume audio playback from any source if you turn off the TV. switched off. You can ONLY play audio CDs with the TV off if you turn on the BD player with the supplied CD (since it won't even turn on the Panasonic TV - a happy aspect of its near compliance with the CEC protocol) and press PLAY button on the remote control. Once you turn on the TV, you can't turn it off without turning off the player. USB support is weak. Panasonic advertises a USB slot, but as soon as you buy the device, you learn (from the manual) that compatibility with USB devices is not guaranteed. While the device works well with small USB drives, it does not support large USB drives. There is no such clause in the instructions for my Dell laptop. Attention buyers! It also doesn't (currently) support Revain cloud services. It supports (lame) Revain videos. I'm hoping that a future firmware release will FINALLY give me access to my entire music library, but that's not currently the case. (No iTunes support either - for those of you who care.) When I try to access network services (like Netflix) the player can load the start menu VERY slowly and then load the start menu VERY slowly. Netflix queue. It may take THREE OR FOUR MINUTES for a particular section to start playing. My player is hardwired to a Gigabit LAN powered by the best Comcast high-speed digital connection available in my metropolitan area (Portland, Oregon). This is a pretty amazing Blu-ray/DVD player with some pretty amazing audio/network limitations. .
