The stars are a little blurry as it's safe to say this teapot is easy to clean, gift-giving and keeps you warm. If you decide to ruin your teapot by leaving traces of debris left in it from the actual tea brewing, cleaning it up is easy. It is cast iron covered with porcelain enamel. As for gifts, of course. If you want to give someone a teapot that they can pass down from generation to generation, buy it. In my opinion, the idea of a gift has much less to do with the object itself than with the giver and the recipient. I could give someone a pack of gum, but I don't need a review or anything like that to tell me how the gift was received. brewed hot tea with no added heat, so yes it's warm. My personal take on this particular teapot is simple. I bought and received exactly what I was looking for at a price I was willing to pay. My requirements were: • Durability - You may have to try to break it, but why? I'm rough with things, but I won't be smashing teapots with my blacksmith's hammer anytime soon. • Functionality - I bought this to keep on our wood stove during the winter months to act as a humidifier and also always have hot water. available for brewing tea, coffee, oatmeal or anything else you need. • Volume - We are 5 people in our immediate family. The tiny kettle just didn't fit. This kettle has 3l. Unless you spend most of your day drinking tea constantly, you won't be topping up the water too often. Also, I wouldn't heat anything much larger on a wood stove. This particular style or type (Hakone) is modeled after traditional teapot designs that have been heirlooms in Japanese families for many years. The manufacturer Old Dutch has an excellent reputation for cast iron products. For me, the type and processing met my personal quality requirements and in turn led to my purchase. I was not disappointed and am very satisfied. This is a durable quality product that I suspect will last a lifetime.
