Not what it sounds like for car chargers

I've had this all day, it opens and closes by itself even when I'm not trying to put my phone in. The sensors are too sensitive or I have a defective one. For wireless charging, too, you need to plug the adapter into your phone's Lightning port and connect it to the power adapter in the cradle. After that, you need to take out this adapter so that you can connect a regular Lightning cable at night. Good luck, don't lose that tiny adapter
