My Excalibur 3526TB 5 Tray Food Dehydrator with Timer arrived on Wednesday this week, today is Saturday. Last weekend I decided to dehydrate our plums as our tree was littered with plums this year and I don't bother with canned plums, I made four large pans of plums in my oven at the lowest temperature (170 degrees) and I'm for it decided they tasted good, they were more like baked than dehydrated so i ordered this dehydrator. When I got home from work Wednesday night, my dehydrator was waiting for me. When I unpacked it I took pictures of every step because so many people complained that it was poorly packaged, mine was packaged well, the trays were all in place. proper slots and nothing sticks like i read in other reviews, no cracks or scratches, it looks really nice and everything fits well. Wednesday night I fired up the Excalibur and filled all five trays with plums, the next day they were perfect, they looked like dried plums are supposed to look, not the ones I made in the oven, the ones dried in my oven were tiny and chewy. I still have a few pears on my pear tree so I left some pear skins along with plums for next time, plums are good but pears are great! We've been keeping this little guy since Wednesday and right now he has 4 fruit bowls and a pear. I love this dehydrator, I've never dehydrated any food before and I think I will from now on. Cleaning is so easy, I wish it came with some Paraflex sheets. I ordered a few off ebay and they arrived a few days after the Excalibur, they cost about $5.95 a sheet and are Excalibur brand. I think the 5 tray block size is perfect for a family of 2. The fan is a bit noisy but I have it in a room away from the main living room so it's not a problem. If you are thinking about buying this device do not hesitate, it is great and seems to be one of the most recommended brands for home use. I would suggest getting one with a timer as you don't have to worry about leaving it on when you're not at home.
