I'm giving five stars because I don't have enough experience to know if this is normal for boiled linseed oil. I oiled the project with oil as directed, rubbed off the excess, left 24 hours between coats. It's been two weeks since the last of the three coats was applied and it still has a toxic stench so it's not safe to keep indoors. The finish is fine, but if you put it on paper, oil stains will soon appear. The weather here is warm and dry. I will try something else.
