Review on ASUS VY279HE Adaptive Sync Augmentation Antibacterial 1920X1080P: Experience Enhanced Eye Care and Visual Quality with HDMI, Blue Light Filter, and HD LED by Brian Bellamy

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Blue line right in the middle

I took the old HDMI monitor out of the box and put it in its place. The screen is on on the Asus splash screen, there is no blue line connected to the computer with the supplied HDMI cable. The monitor blinks several times, shows the desktop and goes black for 5-10 seconds, this takes about a minute. It settles down and shows the desktop, but the middle blue line is top-to-bottom right. so i unplug both ends of the hdmi cable and plug it back in, another minute of flickering screen, i replace my old cable, same line so its not the cables. I use the AMD driver to create a custom resolution by setting it to 75Hz and leaving everything else the same. I apply it, it's still a line on the screen. I hit the power button, the line is still there. I start messing around with AMD settings, every feature I turn on/off, the screen goes blank and flickers black multiple times for 3-10 seconds. Then I turn the device off and on again, the Asus splash screen, there is no blue line. the screen goes black and then the desktop appears, there is no blue line. I'm giving VY279HE a rating of 3 because even if the line never comes back I'll always know it was once and the product's credibility has been eroded and I'll always wonder if it'll come back, probably the next day after it does Warranty expires. As for using the product after the incident, 3 hours have passed, the screen looks great. My only complaint would be the silly placement and design of the power/control button. It's a micro-joystick like a PS4/Xbox controller's thumbpad and is out of reach on the back, especially on the side screens.
