My Frost River Woodsman Pack is basically one giant bag - it has no bottle holders. I found this bottle size to be perfect for this type of backpack as it allowed me to carry the same amount of water as I would normally do with the two regular steel bottles in other backpacks, but in a much more compact (and lighter) size. --less steel with one than with two lanes. Also, its size really helps with my kitchen set. Very satisfied. It also makes an excellent heating pad when placed in a thick wool sock and then doused with boiling water. (Of course make sure you close the lid properly and don't touch the metal itself when full or you'll get the burn you get.)
