Review on Sony SELP1650 16 50Mm Power Zoom by Siu Jang ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best thing for the money, I'm glad I chose this option.

This small (yes, remote) lens is perhaps the last dinosaur of the era when compactness was an integral part of the philosophy of SONY APS-C mirrorless cameras. Of course, it is optically flawed, and on modern 24-megapixel matrices it has a hard time, but even now it will find a place in the arsenal of a photo enthusiast (not to mention video). There is simply no other such station wagon for 24-75 EGF or so, the dimensions and weight of which make it easy to put it in a jacket pocket or in a bag just in case. Was my first cetacean on a5000, died after a year and a half of constant photography. The second one lasted almost three years. Of course, it is not a competitor to the new whale SEL18135 in the photo, but it is three times lighter and about the same smaller. Therefore, I sometimes use it on the new a6400. The hood is not included, but can be found separately for inexpensive. He did not point out the shortcomings - by and large, he does not need it. I just prefer to wear a lens with a hood without a front cap. I would probably recommend it to every beginner with a Sony E crop camera who has not yet formed their photography preferences.

Pros
  • Compactness, light weight, basic range of focal lengths, relatively small minimum focusing distance (25 cm), affordable price (almost new ones can be found on the secondary), nice picture.
Cons
  • Reset the selected focal length when falling asleep. Fragile construct.
