Calibrated to 32 F. Always 1-3 F above our current, so constant.

I am very satisfied with this thermometer. I calibrated it in ice water with my current one to test both and see how things go. It was easy to set up and all I had to do was pull out the battery protection tab to get it working. Batteries are easy to get and quite cheap. The lid for this snaps into place so I know it's covered when not in use and hear it close. I tested the thermometer at around 32F, 60F, and 170F through water from my home well. The thermometer was fairly stable in the sense that it was always within 3 degrees Fahrenheit of my actual digital thermometer readings when both were calibrated with ice water. At lower temperatures of 50-100F, this was always 1F warmer than my current digital thermometer. At higher temperatures of 150-250F it will always be 2-3F warmer than my current thermometer. No matter how hot or cold my food is in the kitchen, the temperature should always be around 3F. I typically heat meat 5-10 F higher than the minimum so it's stable and close enough to work in the kitchen. As far as I know, my old thermometer may have been turned off. I really need a third for even more testing, but I can live with a 1-3 F deviation considering I cook most meals to 170+. I think it's a nice little helper in the kitchen and a great addition to prevent meat from overcooking or undercooking. . This is especially useful if you don't want everything to be sparse, or if you're struggling to get medium and average rather than hard. It is high enough to heat the oil even on the stove. I don't use it with candy because I don't want to ruin the probe. I would get it again. I will update if I manage to get a third one to compare all models.
