Review on Gold Leaf Sheets 1000 Real by Jennifer Roberts

Don't buy fake gold for Tezip Illumination or Shell Making

I would give zero stars but that's not an option. I bought it to use in lighting to make Shell Gold. What I received is clearly not real gold. Shell gold is made by hand polishing 23.5 or 24 karat gold leaf. It must be crushed into very fine particles. It usually takes around 1-2 hours to polish real gold. Silver is a little more difficult but takes a little longer, around 2-3 hours. I spent 4 hours polishing this gold leaf but it was still very grainy and didn't break well. You can see the comparison in my picture. After 1 hour of grinding 23.5 carat gold left over from Barnabas gold leaf. The center is real silver from Barnabas gold leaf after 2 hours of polishing. At right is this product after 4 hours of grinding. You can see the right is breaking badly. The other two almost dissolve in honey when rubbed, while this product remains lumpy. Real gold should cut easily and look like the first bowl on the left. If, like me, you thought you could use it to make shell gold for lighting/tezip, you can't. It will not be good enough for drawing or calligraphy purposes. Although I have only used it to make shell gold for illuminations as it is clearly not real gold, I would caution against using it for gold face masks or on/in food as it can be toxic or cause skin rashes if ingested. It may be suitable for guild use for items such as furniture or picture frames, but again this is not real gold. You can buy large faux gold sheets for the same price or less both online and in stores like JoAnns or Michaels.
