Review on 🐦 Celestron Hummingbird ED Micro Spotting Scope 9-27x56mm - Birder-Friendly Design with Close Focus Distance by John Rocha

Nice addition to my birding binoculars

After years of struggling with a large (and poor quality) spotting scope I decided to give the Hummingbird Birding Scope a try and I'm very glad I did. Because it's small and light, I can carry it in a small backpack or even in my jacket pocket. Although the lower 9-27 magnification doesn't make sense for longer distances, I find it to be the right complement to my Leopold 10x50 binoculars. At 9 I can still easily spot the bird, and at 27 the scope is very sharp with just the right amount of detail for identification. I also appreciate that I can get a stable view with a monopod so I don't have to walk around with a clumsy tripod. The Komperdell staff I use (pictured) can be used as a stick, so for me it's the best of both worlds. Not for those who need a large distance to the sight, but ideally suited as an "intermediate" binocular and large scope. I agree with the two negative reviews from other reviewers - the eyepiece cap is too big so it falls off easily, and the housing is so small you have to force the scope to fit. It's strange that Celestron hasn't been able to address these obvious issues quickly.
