Review on Nellies NLS 50 Natural Laundry Soda by Ken Gray

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Try it, I think you'll like it.

This Nellie NLS-50T All Natural Laundry was a new experience for me on several levels. It's "soda" and not "soap" so I had to approach this product with a very different mindset than what I'm used to. I just bought a new front loading HE washer and realized that all those bubbles and suds that we often associate with "soap scrubbing" are actually BAD things in the HE washer! So I started looking for HE cleaners and after some research I settled on Nellie's. I started with this little bag. When it arrived I thought it was a mistake. It looked like a sample bag! No, that is all. And this little spoon is in there. Not a scoop like regular laundry detergent, I mean a SMALL SPOON! Oh well! Okay, here's my little leap of faith. I pour my little Nellie scoop into the dispenser of my new washing machine (which oddly isn't big enough to hold a big scoop of anything) and let it run. I step back and watch through the front loader's window, wringing my hands nervously and fidgeting because I don't see any blisters. Then they go in the dryer. At the finish, I take a particularly critical look at my clothes. They appear to be CLEAN. Simple and easy clean. Something else. there is no smell. Absolutely nothing. I was so used to the smell of soapy detergent clinging to my clothes that I equated it with cleanliness. Again I had to stop and think about it. The lack of smell also meant there were no traces of perfume, deodorant, bo, food smells in my son's work clothes (ever tried removing onion smell from polyester?) So, I'm about halfway there. through the bag now, about 25 loads. One thing I learned is that it might not fully break down in cold water in a dispenser. I did find that some of it had built up in the dispenser somewhere around the 10th load but honestly I washed with cold water, it's winter and the water temp is probably around 38 degrees now. So I started putting baking soda directly into the washing machine drum when washing in cold water. Looks like it takes a bit of work with the clothes to work their magic in the cold. All in all, this little spoon has proven itself over and over again. If you want a simple and easy CLEANING, I recommend Nelly. To attempt. I think you will like it too.
