Review on Micro Connectors Aluminum Raspberry Pi 3 Model B B+ Case With Fan And Heatsinks - Blue (RAS-PCS04-BL) by Adam Gambel

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Well made and flexible

My original piece had 8 acrylic tops instead of 4 tops and 4 bottoms and unfortunately I waited 3 months to open it so I was able to don't exchange it through Revain. I contacted Micro Connectors customer service and they immediately sent me a brand new one which I received two days later which was perfect (and even had newer Raspberry Pi 4 heatsinks). layer, and the included fans are connected directly to the Pi + 5V and GND pins. The gaskets and screws are all of good quality and fit together perfectly. Acrylic has paper or plastic protection to avoid scratches during shipping. Unfortunately, since I'm using PoE (Power over Ethernet) hats for my Pi LoverPi, the fans will not fit in their suggested configurations (hanging under the tops). Instead, I installed fans over the tops, which was possible since there are separate top and bottom sides separated by enough space to accommodate the airflow fans. This would not be possible with most other 4 pi acrylic cases as they only use one piece for the top and bottom layers in the middle layers. I also had to use a pull configuration for the fans instead of a push configuration because the fans are so thin that they rub against the acrylic in a push configuration. You could probably get it to work in a forced setting with some standoffs on the fans. Even with this sub-optimal fan setting, my Pi 4s only hit about 70°C when cpuburn is running, so there's no throttling and no PoE issues. Hats get hot. The top Pi runs significantly cooler (10°C+ less) because the fan's airflow is unrestricted. You can see my final setup image connected to a TP-Link PoE switch. The case looks great and is very functional.

Pros
  • Precision cut case allows easy access to all ports
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
