Review on Enhanced Performance with EC90 Carbon Fiber Bike Seat Post - 3K Seatpost for MTB Road & Mountain Bikes Cycling by Jeff Henkhaus

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice finish, lighter than expected.

Preview: Haven't ridden yet but wanted to make a first impression: Weight measured on digital scale: 174 grams. Good finishes and graphics. a saddle with a hole or cut to allow you access to one of the adjustment screws. While it's useful and convenient to access the front hex from the top, as long as you can adjust the seat-side bolt with your fingers, you don't need to be able to access the top with a tool. Bolt as a kind of fixed bolt. Then tighten the rear screw with a 5mm allen wrench. After the rear screw is tightened, assess the tilt. If you don't like the resulting tilt, simply loosen the rear screw just enough to adjust the tilt by finger-tightening the front screw in or out of the saddle. You won't be able to see the tilt until the rear screw is fully tightened again. If it still doesn't, make another adjustment. It may require a few adjustments, but it can be done in a few minutes of fiddling. UPDATE: I bought this seatpost for a tandem stoker position. It replaced an expensive, top-of-the-line Cane Creek shock absorbing seatpost. No issues with this seatpost, but in our case, Stoker reported that he encouraged her to "jump at higher cadences as she's not a very smooth dealer." Of course without getting any big hits. However, it helped minimize her jumping. So far this seatpost has proven to be durable. Stoker weighs 140 pounds, so not a featherweight. I used carbon fiber assembly paste to secure it in place. If you are interested or care; I wouldn't say the graphics are easy to remove. I'm happy with this purchase and will likely buy another for other bikes if needed. A NOTICE. Although I use this as a tandem heater I don't recommend it for a captain position. The extra torque transferred from the stoker's handlebars to the seatpost in the captain's position will put additional stress on the seatpost, which can lead to long-term problems with the carbon seatpost.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Vulgarity
