Review on 8-Inch Precision Forged Chef Knife with High-Carbon Stainless Steel Blade and Ergonomic Wood Handle - Ideal for Home Kitchen and Restaurant - Superior Cook's Cutlery by Hester Gaiser

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Robust construction. Balanced and light. High quality steel.

The blade and handle are made from a single piece of steel and the handle is surrounded by a single piece of wood. I expect that with proper care this knife can easily last a lifetime. It arrived spicy but not as spicy as it could have been. If you're like me, you should try a sharpener or whetstone before using it for the first time. This is a well balanced chef's knife with a center of gravity just above the handle. It's light enough to be used by anyone with hands and arms. A good deal all round. Edit: After 8 months of use (3-4 times a week) and thoroughly washing and drying the blade right after each use, I still haven't had to sharpen the blade a second time. . It took a lot of work to sharpen this blade when it first came out (compared to other knives) but now it holds that sharpness for quite a while. My conclusion is that the steel is very high quality and the low price definitely compensates for the initially lacking sharpness of the blades, so I'm increasing the rating from 4 to 5 stars.
