I've had 1 for 14 years and it's finally starting to fall apart. This old one was made in the USA by Vellux and has held up very well. The new one is comparable to the old one in terms of softness, warmth, etc. The new one, now made in China, is now hemmed on all 4 sides instead of two on the old one. I've noticed the chemical smell in previous reviews, but I haven't had a problem with the chemical smell. I took it out of the box, washed it and everything was fine. I definitely recommend this blanket. If it matters, it was sold by Revain and not a third party. Time will tell how well it holds up.
