Works as it should: Blanket

The blanket is soft and our pup loves it. I tend to get quite hot when using it, but that may change after more washing. Remember that it should be washed separately as it is very fluffy. Another problem is that it tends to slip and become uneven with sheets when used over regular sheets. I love the texture of the flocking on the duvet and it doesn't retain heat as well as some other types of duvet so we'll keep using it.

Pros
  • Easy to wash
Cons
  • Not sure

The ceiling does not lose its shape.

I have had a Vellux duvet for many years and over time it started to fall apart. I was very happy to find the original Vellux duvet. These are wonderful blankets. The material it's made of gives it a nice 'shape'. We have a cotton duvet on our guest bed that has lost its shape after countless pulling and washing. The Vellux duvet does not fit. Soft, warm blanket but not heavy. I hope these last as long as the first Vellux we had, they are worth it.

Pros
  • 100% Nylon Flock
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Just like the original from 14 years ago.

I've had 1 for 14 years and it's finally starting to fall apart. This old one was made in the USA by Vellux and has held up very well. The new one is comparable to the old one in terms of softness, warmth, etc. The new one, now made in China, is now hemmed on all 4 sides instead of two on the old one. I've noticed the chemical smell in previous reviews, but I haven't had a problem with the chemical smell. I took it out of the box, washed it and everything was fine. I definitely recommend this…

This is the ORIGINAL Vellux duvet.

Forty years ago I bought my first Vellux blanket. Over the years the quality declined and the material became rough and prickly. I have noticed that the 'Original' Vellux duvet is back on the market. I bought the King duvet hoping it was original quality. The duvet is easy to wash in the washing machine. I had to dry it in two cycles. The quality is superb and there is no chemical smell that reviewers accidentally mentioned. In winter, one blanket is not enough for sleeping, but one layer is…

Pros
  • INSULATION: High quality, soft, lint-free 100% nylon flock with foam backing for warmth
Cons
  • It's OK

This one is very prickly - not even my husband uses it and he's not usually picky about these things. Even after washing, this blanket feels prickly. If you want a vellux blanket, take "WestPoint Home Micro Mink Vellux Plush Blanket" - we bought one of the plush blankets at the same time (I chose by color, not realizing that blankets are from different manufacturers and very different are in quality) . Anyway, we decided to get rid of the Martex blanket and buy another Westpoint blanket…

Pros
  • heat without
Cons
  • working speed

Wasn't happy when I took it out.

Delivered very quickly, well packaged. I wasn't happy with it when I took it out of the box and plastic wrap. It smelled and sticky as if it had been there a long time, dirty and dusty. I really had my doubts about this. Anyway, I washed the comforter first in my new super duper washing machine, ran it four full cycles to get the smell out and really cleaned it, and then tumble dried. Finally put on the bed and everything was fine. I use it as a cover up with a navy electric blanket over it. I…

Pros
  • Soft and plush -
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
