I first bought a heavy duty Singer 01025 repair needle set. I broke both the curved and straight needles within an hour trying to mend a stitching on a leather sofa. I risked those unbranded needles, expecting a lot of broken needles and hoping I could handle my project because it had a lot of needles. Not a single needle broke, even when I twisted, squeezed, twisted the needle through the skin with my forceps! The needles were thicker and stronger than the Singer pack, but not overly large. I'm sure Singer needles will work on regular fabric but not leather. I found the J needle just as useful as the C needle so I only used two needles and they are being put back in the case for future use.
