My father bought this set before I left home; The rule was to hand wash knives after use, but my sister always threw them in the sink. Five years later, they're still razor sharp, unkempt, with a few celebratory roasts and some serious overuse of santoku. The handles are comfortable and the riveted construction throughout is extremely durable. Above all, I have to emphasize the increase in quality compared to the international Henckels line. The International line had inferior edges and seemingly inferior steel; When I dropped one of the knives, it landed point-down, got stuck in the ground, and broke the point. Here it is not a problem. You pay a little more for the name, but it's worth it for the joy cooking brings with these knives. I highly recommend this item and would buy it myself if I had the money.
