It worked, now I have speakers without an HDMI cable.

Works as described. I didn't need a USB port as I use it with a Dell laptop that supplies power via an HDMI cable. I placed the adapter right next to the screen with a very short HDMI cable. Then he extended a long HDMI to the front. Now everything that is connected to HDMI is also connected to the speakers on the back.
