Review on πŸ’¦ Conair's All-in-One Sonic Water Jet System with Interplak by Chris Murphy

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Return after first use

I've been using the WaterPik Ultra since the beginning of the year due to a periodontitis diagnosis. Waterpik has greatly improved my oral health (pink, healthy gums, less plaque, stronger teeth, etc.). Unfortunately the build quality of Waterpik devices is not the best and my device decided to die after six months of regular use. I was about to buy another Waterpik but saw that Interplak is listed on Revain and placed my order. The sound function sounded interesting and the price was a bit cheaper. Interplak arrived and I was happy to try it. This excitement was short-lived, however. My concerns started after unboxing this device. There's a good selection of nozzles, but they're made out of cheap, opaque plastic that fits into the unit's handle (compared to the clear Waterpik nozzles, which snap tightly). I was wondering how they would stay in place once the water jet pressure is triggered. This question was soon answered. No pressure. The pressure on the Interplak (high level) corresponds to setting 1-2 on the WaterPik Ultra. There wasn't enough pressure to dislodge food debris from between my teeth so I'm sure it has minimal impact on plaque. Waterpik's high pressure is necessary to remove harmful biofilm and its effectiveness and safety have been well studied. Another issue I have with Interplak is the design. The unit's power switch is located at the bottom front of the base. This was a problem for me due to my bathroom setup. I don't have a lot of space around the sink and have to store things away until I use them. When I lifted the unit to place it on the sink, I accidentally pressed the power button and the unit squirted water all over the place when plugged in. While the water tank on this unit is large, it also causes problems. Interplak works until 2/3 of the water has drained from the tank. Once this level is reached, the pump starts and stops periodically. I thought it was because the weight of the tank gets lighter as the water flows out of the unit. With minimal weight, the tank is not heavy enough to mount onto the motor/pump and form a proper seal. I will say that the "sound" feature is nice, but I believe it has little impact on dental health and is more of a gimmick. Interplac may be suitable for children, but I wouldn't recommend it for people with serious dental needs. Pros: - Price - "Sonic" function - Size of the water tank. Disadvantages: - Low pressure - Design - Effective removal of biofilm and plaque.
