Review on Stylish Dragonfly 18/10 Stainless Steel Flatware Set - 5 Piece Place Setting By Fortessa by Eric Fuego

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Yeah, they’re unusual, but character and handling trumps ordinary

I’d dreamed of the spectacular 1950’s cutlery featured in Kubrick’s "2001: A Space Odyssey,” but choked on their $100 per place setting price. These scratched my itch. You’ll quickly adapt to their pencil-thin stems, though they may roll a bit if your plates have very steep flanges ‘round the edges. The knives function just as well as those with longer blades. And, sharp enough for steak. These have a precision ethos — a bit like surgeon’s instruments. They’re very well balanced, resist scratching, and given their low-profile surface exposure would not have been nearly as impressive had Fortessa sandblasted away their shininess. I use them with Mainstay’s square clear glass dinnerdware. Definitely works.

Pros
  • The sturdy and well-made flatware is backed by a manufacturer's warranty for added peace of mind.
Cons
  • The set may not be suitable for those with a preference for matte finishes
