These adapters are designed to connect flat pin electrical equipment used in America to European outlets. They change neither the voltage nor the power of the socket. They can be used with universal devices that accept both 120V and 240V (like most laptop and cell phone chargers). These adapters are among the cheapest devices I have ever seen! As cheap as they are I think they are overpriced for what they deliver. Several adapters I received were so loose that they would not hold the plug. I opened them up and found a thin, thin strip of metal pressed against the flat pin of the inserted connector. I gently bent them and they worked better. However, it is clear that these adapters will not last long. As mentioned in other posts, these plugs fit very tightly in some European outlets, requiring some effort to remove (haven't used pliers yet, but I would if I had one!). In other outlets they hang out a little. Now I've been traveling for a year or more and I've bought a lot of cheap adapters because I tend to lose things. These adapters are suitable for small devices: mobile phone chargers, electric razors (which can work on 240V). DO NOT use them on a hair dryer or anything with an electric heater! The contact is so thin that a large load can melt it. For a hassle-free trip around Europe, I would advise you to buy better and more reliable adapters.
