Review on ASUS VG249Q Gaming Monitor with FreeSync, 144Hz DisplayPort, Adjustable Height & Pivot, Built-In Speakers, HD by Brian Odell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent 1080P IPS for gaming/general use

PROS: No dead pixels on me (that's the only thing I worry about when ordering a monitor online) - Perfect size for 1080p (high pixel density at this size) - Brightness and contrast look great - Lots of different settings in the Menu - Build quality seems solid CONS:-- Speakers sound good but not amazing; I personally use headphones so I don't care. Ideally, the power button should be directly below the LED display and not half an inch to the left of it. It looks like the border is only about 1/16 inch thick. But the usable portion of the LED bar actually ends up about 1/8 inch from the plastic frame. So if you want to use 2 of these side by side, keep that in mind. They have a black border about 1/4 inch wide (including part of the border) on each side of the monitor. A small point but worth mentioning. As you can see, there is not much to complain about with this monitor. I set it to 120Hz (my current GPU can't run games at 144fps anyway). Setup was easy. For some games I had to delete the contents of the game settings folder in order for the game to work with this monitor (namely Doom 2016 and RDR2) as these games had my previous monitor's settings saved. It's hard to find a 1080P IPS that is fast and offers all these features in a small size. Most IPS 1080P monitors are now 27 inches, which I think is way too big. This is the perfect size for 1080p.
