As a type II diabetic I cook all meals at home. I eat little or no processed foods. This digital scale is very suitable for portion control. It is entirely made of plastic and the tray on which the items are placed is not removable. I'm preparing this scale in just the right size. When I'm weighing things like meat, I usually put a piece of plastic wrap on the weigh table and move on so I don't have to clean it. The display has good contrast and is big enough to be seen well. I like that it turns itself off after a few minutes, but you can also turn it off manually. For its size and weight, it holds up to 11 pounds, although I haven't tried that much weight. Cooking for one I keep it staggering at an ounce. I love the tare function, which allows me to zero the scale with an empty bowl or plate before weighing food. These scales are very lightweight and take up little counter space. I would buy this product again and recommend it to my other diabetic friends or those just trying to practice portion control while dieting. This scale also comes with an instruction manual and a calorie counting guide.
