Model number (printed on manual, not box): Y-3025 Rose Gold USB 3.0 to Dual SATA (6G) Offline Clone Docking Station (No , it doesn't clean up (afaik. but I can run dban from my computer for that) Fantastic device, would recommend it to anyone who can change their own disks, this successfully cloned the RAID 0 system (2 disks) to 2 brand new disks .I had some learning curves but my second try was successful. There are a few things to note that are not in the instructions.Offline cloning: Long press for 3 seconds, the 100% indicator will light up, indicating that the cloning is ready) 1 quick press to start and the 25% indicator should start flashing. *** If you press the button a third time, 25% of the light will behave as if it is cloning, but the device will not continue cloning. I spent 3 hours on this. Just turn off the device and restart it. *** 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% lights will flash in sequence: When 75% is complete, the 25% and 50% lights will be blue and both A+B lights will also be amber. When it reaches (in this example 75) %, only this one display flashes. I found this a bit more comfortable as I assumed all the lights would flash, but it's as elegant as it gets. raid clones. When cloning a raid installation, you must first boot all (NEW) hard drives on your computer and format them according to your settings. In my case raid is 0 (yes I know striped is silly and right now I would prefer 5 but it was my first raid build (8 years ago). Actually I would prefer 10 with parity but I only have 2 Drives so here it is It took me longer to connect the (NEW) hard drives than to format them to RAID 0 (completes as soon as I hit enter. Only labels your hard drives) motherboard manual After your (NEW) hard drives are set up are Raid, clone them normally.Otherwise you may get "No OS" message.Moderate all the time) 98F on the source disk (Seagates are getting hot) 85F on the destination disk (new WD Blue 1TB) My old drives reaches the 90's (98.x) F. and my new drives stayed around the 80's. a small 5" table fan blowing through the duct for a targeted flow of fresh air also helped. run hot. Heat is not good, so I would advise you to provide adequate airflow during this operation. Time: Each clone has about the same took a lot of time. I ran this 4 times for raid 0 (twice for each drive as not every new drive was set as raid before the first cloning) and multiplied each cloning process. I have screenshots of the timer (on my phone) made at each 25% increase between 2 separate 750GB 7200RPM HDDs and 2 separate 1TB 7200RPM HDDs total for each (from 0-100%) was 3 hours 10 minutes, until 3:25 the 2nd hard disk took 3 hours 15 minutes 0-25% = 42 minutes 25%-50% = 1:23 hour/minute (41 minutes) 50%-75% = 2:10 h/ min (47 minutes) 75%-100% = 3:12 h/min (1 hour 2 minutes) These were 750GB hard drives and if you have 5TB hard drives, they are (at least) five times as long. Remember. This took me twice from 10pm to Sounds: inaudible unless you put your ear to it. My original Seagate 750GB hard drives made a huge click and crunch. It was annoying to hear them crunch, but it was used on PC. Almost no sounds were heard during cloning. I wanted to put a stethoscope on them, but listening closely was enough to hear the hard drives spinning and making subtle clicks, reading and writing new hard drives. It was very subtle, but there was also a noticeable click (at least in my experience (so far)) when it ended. If you are in the library you will hardly notice it and I had to listen to all the questions with all my might but there were several. You may hear tiny movements during cloning, but otherwise it's a very quiet process. When I first turn on the unit and the drives are in I can hear them spinning but they are slowing down and I don't think they are spinning at all because. You can't hear them from across the room (and the old ones were noisy Seagates that didn't produce a single crunch or squeak during a successful clone). Cloning a hard drive for data. simultaneously. It copied over 160GB of backup photos (both RAW and completed work) perfectly, down to the byte. Both disks (one very old and one new) are now usable. Storage space: New cloned disks (which may have large capacity) will be cloned to the exact size of SOURCE. However, once the computer is running (both in raid0 and as a backup disk), you can (yes, YOU CAN) claim all the unused space on the new (destination) disks. For my raid 0 I just created a new volume (now I have volume 0 (original disks) and volume 1 (with all the gigabytes I paid for). Note: new disks will be "unallocated" space first, and OS (if you are using Winx) you need to install it as 1st mountable. I won't go into detail here but it was easy for me to reclaim all the free space on both the RAID disks and the backup spare dd (which had 1GB unused Unallocated space after cloning. Ext3, Ext4, LVM - not tested on my Linux machines yet. Will update as hard drives arrive. So here's my (hopefully helpful) review covering what I haven't seen anywhere else. Speeds seem good, operation is as easy as boiling a potato. It looks great, and whoever decided to to create the rose gold version, greetings. I'm glad I bought this and I like the low output LEDs that don't glare and a metal frame, also with a dust cover. Even the cables are covered with high-quality silicone, just like Macs. I have never owned a Mac but am amazed at the detail this device has. Someone took their time and brought it to market, fully tested it, and then made it as elegant as I've ever seen. Thank you for all of this as it is (at least) appreciated by me. I have more pixels
