Review on πŸ”Š Enhance Your Audio System with Soundstream BX-20Z Digital Bass Reconstruction Processor by Chris Morgan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Required for SQ and SPL

REMOVE BASS CONTROL. Above all. This is a design flaw. You've probably heard people complaining that "this RUINS rap music cuts out the highs and replaces them with lows," blah blah blah. It's a downside, but don't let this purchase discourage you - it's still great. Once you remove the bass control, the treble and bass will return and be restored as intended for this product. I think the bass control was a late addition to the product like they decided to add it right before production, but the bass control DOES NOT WORK. So DO NOT USE, otherwise it will not work properly. If you're familiar with Exocontralto, so did he. Now for the review: Aside from the lack of a bass control, this is an AMAZING unit. I am currently running a TC Sounds TC-3000 on an American Xterminator XT-2000D amp with 1/0 gauge electrical upgrades. My main unit, the Pioneer DEH series, has a very LOW output voltage from the subwoofer. I needed something to boost the subwoofer's RCA output on the main unit because it didn't even read 1 volt and the amp draws up to 6 volts before clipping. So I turned to Soundstream - they have many awards for bass processing. Not only does it output up to 10 volts from the subwoofer's RCA output, of which I only need 6, but it also "recovers" bass that might be lost in recording or from your main unit. Basically all those trills in the bass or bumpy bass are fixed. And it's not a lie. The second time I turned on the car after installation, and on the radio the head "big girls don't cry" (don't judge me, I didn't choose Fergie, it was on the radio>.<), the hits were no longer deaf like compression can do on radio, the beats were very juicy and deep. When I switched to another station to listen to the rap, the bass line was very "smooth" instead of harsh as before, and higher bass was able to keep up and be more powerful at low frequencies. The high frequencies are evenly mixed and the bass is very smooth. He's not loud or harsh. But then I had to check how loud bass music sounded like decaffeinated bass music on it because although my system is designed for sound quality, most of the time my system is set to the SPL setting and I need to be able to play the music loud on the term lab beat (SPL meter for SPL competition). Well, let me just say my socks literally fell off. At least I have some DBs. And I'm NOT just saying this to promote a product, I'm NOT saying it's a placebo and I'm just THINK it works, I KNOW. I cranked it up and the whole car flexed, wipers and all, looked back and saw the woofer flexing like a mofo only to see it JUST MOVED. There was a place to go. This epicenter (BX-20Z) really improves the bass. It eliminates any unwanted overtones or subsonics, allowing your system to run louder as it now only receives pure bass and not the messy signal that is limiting your system. Conclusion: I recommend this product. It sounds good. Even the mediocre system sounds MUCH BETTER. I promise you my sound system is designed primarily for SPL just to be louder, as is my woofer, but somehow this little thing makes it sound like it's on par with my old Klipsch soundroom. And I'm not dramatic. But turn on the main unit and crank that thing up with bass, those 3 blue lights on the BX-20Z come on and your system gets noticeably louder. Yes, I recommend it, and people who complain that it is "bad" and "destroys" the bass and destroys the highs, they haven't investigated and TRYING to fix the problem, you just have to do the REMOVE BASS HANDLE. Believe me, with the bass control it will sound bad, at least try to remove it, you will hear the difference.
