Review on 🎧 Bose QuietComfort 20i Noise Cancelling Headphones with Acoustic Technology by Melissa Richards

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent sound quality, targeted noise reduction

Very practical. Stays in place and comfortable even while running. Normal sound with noise canceling off, much better, really good sound (thick bass and generally full range) with noise canceling on, although it doesn't cancel out other noises in the process. It's weird, but the end result is excellent sound - comparable to in-ear headphones but without the inconvenience. When it comes to noise cancellation, keep your expectations low. Despite what other reviewers have written, it does NOTHING to block normal conversations or other soft noises or intermittent noises like snoring. It also doesn't cancel out the loud hum like on an airplane. But it reduces the volume of loud hums significantly, which is enough to make it worth it. For example, on a treadmill that produces a fairly consistent and loud hum, I can listen to music or shows with a good soundstage with no change at normal volume (and still hear the hum, but much less) while using regular headphones I would have to crank it up full volume to hear it over the same hum and the full spectrum wouldn't sound. Overall, I would give this device 5 stars for excellent sound quality and good NOISE CANCELLATION OF SOME noise, but I downgraded it to 4 stars because the conclusion that it cancels *any* noise is far from true. It doesn't come close to achieving silence, and even aimed noise is significantly reduced, but not blocked. With the right expectations, this can be a very pleasant purchase. I'm very glad I got them, now I use them as headphones for all the time and not just for use in noisy environments. Just don't expect them to actually cancel anything.
