I love my kettle and use it every day. This is my second, first after years of use that just didn't look as good as it used to. The new kettle had such a tight lid that it was difficult to take it off and put it back on to fill it. My solution was to fill it through the spout. In the long run this actually ensured a snug fit to the top and my whistle worked flawlessly. One note though: the bird MUST be fully upright or it will not function well. Also, be sure to completely drain the remaining water from the pot after using boiled water. This will prevent build up on the inner bottom of the pot which will become harder to remove over the years. I learned this lesson from my first pot.
