I heard them I think them very valuable as others have said. Aside from all the technical nonsense that most might find useful, I'm strictly focusing on the sound quality and sound signature, so I won't be judging it on noise-cancellation. I'm 50 and have pretty good hearing for my age so keep that in mind. Hip-Hop, Neo-Soul, Jazz (incognito), Electronic (Bass 305, Dynamix II), Pop, R&B, Rock (Sting, Phil Collins) are some examples of what I listen to. Don't really expect much for the price ($40 best day) so the SQ value is pretty high considering YOU HAVE TO USE THE EQUALIZER to adjust the sound. See my initial EQ setup in fig. They're a bit bright in certain bands around 4kHz and have another broad peak that's much higher (16kHz?). These peaks thin out the set's sound a bit, though they show impressive clarity and detail that the standard AKG S20+ headphones don't have. Below 60Hz (31-45Hz) it could use a little boost, but the roll-off from 120-250Hz helps balance out the mid-bass and subwoofer. They're not heavy with rumble but deliver good, accurate deep bass. After treating these areas, they will acquire a warmer and more natural tone. The benefit here is that you have headroom with no gain if you like a little more high end. There is almost no distortion as I play them at around 80% volume, while I would like certain tracks to have a bit more volume at max volume, I can also lie in bed at night when they settle to around 50 % or less level off and still hear all presented frequencies well. So volume isn't an issue unless you need very loud headphones. Overall, this is a very expensive item that I'm sure would cost at least three times as much to beat. I can upgrade to one of these better options later, but almost all headphones require a bit of EQ for preference and individual listening. So I didn't lose any points for that factor, and I'm not willing to spend more than $150 on headphones just to see an improvement. I'll update later if my results change, but for now they're getting the thumbs up!
