Review on Nikon AF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 D Lens: Enhanced Aperture Ring for Precise Control by Lequon Kirkpatrick

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good clarity and sharpness

I bought this lens to fit a Nikon film camera and digital Nikon D80 and digital Fuji S2 Pro. Color and sharpness are excellent on both film and digital cameras, with sharpness exceeding the resolution of film or my limited (10 and 12) megapixel DSLRs. Although the case is made of plastic, it seems quite sturdy compared to metal but lighter. If you drop it, it will most likely break rather than dent. One problem I had was that the aperture pin is short enough that the aperture stays open if you don't mount the lens perfectly on the camera. I have to be meticulous about attaching the lens to the camera and then using the preview button to make sure the aperture closes. I had several severely overexposed photos before learning how to avoid this problem.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Sad gear
