Review on Enhanced Fluidmaster 8100 Flush 'n Sparkle Automatic Toilet Bowl Cleaning System with Blue Cartridge by Anne Miller

I ordered this product for my office than home. The product seemed well made and had a better design than others I've tried, unfortunately it stopped the toilet flushing, heavy flow and lots of water in the bowl, very dark blue but no flushing! After installing and then uninstalling several times I concluded that the problem was definitely with the Flush and Sparkle product as I was able to connect the old overflow line and the toilet flushed properly every time. I contacted Fluidmaster via chat and was told that this could be related to the old cartridge ie. The blue cleaner breaks down too easily, blocking the flow. This seemed reasonable as the blue cleaning material was heavily washed out and when I removed it and flushed with water to the point where the cartridge was empty and reinserted the empty cartridge the toilet flushed just fine. They asked me to send pictures of the toilet cistern with the Fluidmaster fill valve, information about the brand of the toilet, etc. This is an old regular flush toilet from the 80's, so CSR said the unit may not be compatible. They sent me a new refill pack for free but that caused the same problem. I went ahead and chatted with CRS that the system doesn't appear to be compatible with my toilet and Fluidmaster fill valve? Based on my observations and the fact that it works great when the cartridge is empty, I believe the flow is being disrupted/blocked because the soft cleaning material is being dispensed at too high a rate, which is compromised by the longer cartridge fill time can . old toilet. I wondered if using a chlorine regenerator would work, but they didn't recommend it given the problem I was having. I might try using chlorine tablets in an empty cartridge just to make sure my theory is correct.
