Review on Dorman 926 321 Odometer Drive Gear by Kirt Phillips

If your Econoline van's odometer is broken but the speedometer is still working, this is most likely your culprit. Installation is not easy, you have to remove the entire instrument cluster and disassemble the rear. The hardest part is reinstalling the ribbon cable and reinstalling the shift indicator on the bottom of the cluster. HOWEVER, this part is a lot cheaper than even a junkyard with incorrect mileage and questionable splines. This gearbox engaged right away and after I made sure to clean the entire old gearbox of a small amount of white lithium grease everything ran smoothly and my trip meter ran flawlessly. There are installation videos on YouTube and if you have a day to kill it and take your time, this is a cheap fix to a common problem.
