I was born in Japan and lived there until I was about 17 years old. I know what rice tastes like and what rice cookers are. First, some people place a high value on a retractable power cord. It's true that most mid- to high-priced stoves have retractable pull-and-release cords, but they break first! They are not removed at all or only partially removed. Most of the ovens we have bought have had this problem after less than 6 months of use. We used every day. THIS hob comes with a short power cord similar to a PC. That works fine. The exchange is easy. I like it. It has a nice tub inside that is fully non-stick. It comes with measuring cups, but Americans beware! Japanese cups have a volume of 200 cu. cm, and American "cups" - 250 cubic meters. Not the same. I never measure rice or water. I do it by eye. This cooker has many features but I only use white rice and it works. I don't know about other things like timers, brown rice etc. A very nice feature is the battery operated CLOCK. It doesn't blink every time it's unplugged and plugged back in. I like it. (but I don't use timers and clocks) The price is reasonable. Cup size 6 is ideal for moderate consumption of rice alone. The rice cooker does its best halfway through to the full mark. To a lesser extent they tend to dry out, to a greater extent they are too wet. So 6 prepared cups are ideal. I would definitely buy this again.
