Do you pay Comcast $10/month (or more) to rent a modem? If so, buy it and thank me in 6 months when it pays off. The junk your ISP rents to you is no better. How much do you think Comcast pays for a modem/router before they start charging you $120 a year? (Hint: roughly how much it costs) Let's say you're like the average person on an ever-expanding contract with your ISP. You've probably rented a modem for 5 years (60 billing cycles) and paid over $600 in rent! Since this is just a modem, you'll also need your own WiFi router. Trust me it's worth it. I use this surfboard with a Linksys router, I've had a good and reliable connection the whole time. Even though older ISP models regularly become obsolete, you can buy a new modem AND router every 2 years and still save money compared to renting. Your internet will become more reliable. Your family will thank you. women will want you. men will want to be you. Grow up and buy a good modem. This one works. This is the third Arris surfboard I own.
