The wood is difficult to clean, especially when food gets inside, as the top doesn't come off. (I have another one from another company (but without the cutter) that had the entire top removed for cleaning. This one doesn't have that. The plastic cutter does NOT go into the long cutout, so you have to use two hands to get around cleaning it. They want to use it. Why they didn't widen the hole 1/8" to accommodate it I don't know. Very disappointing. I returned the item and ordered a separate paper shredder to go with mine use existing board and an easy-to-clean storage element.
